Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

At Cristiano's request - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice.

Pagi itu pagi minggu. Cuaca cukup sejuk sehingga mencapai takat suhu beku. Sebab itu saya tidak mandi pagi sebab air kolah jadi air batu dan air paip tidak mahu keluar sebab beku di dalam batang paip. Pagi itu saya bersarapan dengan keluarga di dalam unggun api kerana tidak tahan sejuk. Selepas itu emak saya mengajak saya menemaninya ke pasar. Tetapi saya tidak mahu.

Selepas emak menikam perut saya berkali-kali dengan garfu barulah saya bersetuju untuk mengikutnya. Kami berjalan sejauh 120 kilometer kerana pasar itu letaknya 128 kilometer dari rumah. Lagi 8 kilometer nak sampai pasar saya ternampak sebuah lori kontena meluru dengan laju dari arah belakang.

Dia melanggar emak saya. Emak saya tercampak ke dalam gaung. Dia menjerit “Adoi!”. Lepas itu emak saya naik semula dan mengejar lori tersebut. Saya pun turut berlari di belakang emak saya kerana takut emak saya melanggar lori itu pula. Pemandu lori itu nampak kami mengejarnya. Dia pun memecut lebih laju iaitu sama dengan kelajuan cahaya. Kami pula terpaksa mengejar dengan lebih laju iaitu sama dengan dua kali ganda kelajuan cahaya. Emak saya dapat menerajang tayar depan lori itu. Lori itu terbabas dan melanggar pembahagi jalan lalu bertembung dengan sebuah feri. Feri itu terbelah dua.

Penumpang feri itu yang seramai 100 orang semuanya mati. Pemandu feri itu sangat marah. Dia pun bertukar menjadi Ultraman dan memfire pemandu lori. Pemandu lori menekan butang khas di dalam lori dia..lori itu bertukar menjadi robot Transformer. Mereka bergaduh di udara. Emak saya tidak puas hati. Dia pun terus menyewa sebuah helikopter di Genting
Highlands dan terus ke tempat kemalangan. Dia melanggar pemandu feri yang telah bertukar menjadi Ultraman itu.

Pemandu feri itu terkejut dan terus bertukar menjadi pemandu feri semula lalu terhempas ke jalanraya. Pemandu feri itu pecah. Pemandu lori sangat takut melihat kejadian itu.. Dia meminta maaf dari emak saya. Dia menghulurkan tangan ingin bersalam.. Tetapi emak saya masih marah. Dia menyendengkan helikopternya dan mengerat tangan pemandu lori itu dengan kipas helikopter. Pemandu lori itu menjerit “Adoi..!” dan jatuh ke bumi. Emak say menghantar helikopter itu ke Genting Highlands. Bila dia balik ke tempat kejadian, dia terus memukul pemandu lori itu dengan beg tangannya sambil memarahi pemandu lori itu di dalam bahasa Inggeris .

Pemandu lori itu tidak dapat menjawab sebab emak saya cakap orang putih. Lalu pemandu lori itu mati. Tidak lama kemudian kereta polis pun sampai. Dia membuat lapuran ke ibu pejabatnya tentang kemalangan ngeri itu. Semua anggota polis di pejabat polis itu terperanjat lalu mati. Orang ramai mengerumuni tempat kejadian kerana ingin mengetahui apa yang telah terjadi. Polis yang bertugas cuba menyuraikan orang ramai lalu dia menjerit menggunakan pembesar suara. Orang ramai terperanjat dan semuanya mati.

Selepas itu emak saya mengajak saya ke pasar untuk mengelak lebih ramai lagi yang akan mati. Di pasar, emak saya menceritakan kejadian itu kepada penjual daging. Penjual daging dan peniaga-peniaga berhampiran yang mendengar cerita itu semuanya terkejut dan mati. Saya dan emak saya terus berlari balik ke rumah. Kerana terlalu penat sebaik saja sampai di rumah kami pun mati. Itulah kemalangan yang paling ngeri yang pernah saya lihat sebelum saya mati.

Are changes needed for United to conquer Europe?

In the cold light of day, Manchester United will look back on this season as a hugely satisfying one.

A third successive Premier League title has taken them level with Liverpool's record of 18 in total and they also won the League Cup and the World Club Championship.

But the season will always be tinged with the disappointment that they came up short in the biggest game of all.

It's hard to explain why so many good players did not play well in the Champions League final. We are all human; I played in plenty of big finals and before each one I said a little prayer and hoped I would have one of my better games.

Unfortunately, it doesn't always happen. It's rare that all 22 footballers will play well in any football match, never mind a Champions League final, but the last thing you want as a player is to end a big final knowing you didn't perform. That is what Manchester United's players must learn to cope with in the coming weeks.
Deflated

The saddest aspect of that night in Rome is that for the first 10 minutes Manchester United were vibrant, confident and dangerous, while their opponents were anything but.

However, once Barcelona scored with their first attack, every Manchester United player looked like they had been punctured. They were totally deflated.

That was a surprise to me because it wasn't the 80th minute when Barcelona scored, it was the 10th. United had a lot of time to get back into the game, but it seemed they never believed that they could do it.

It was strange and it was unpredictable. Why were Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic so nervous and unstable for 90 minutes? Why could Michael Carrick not use the ball as well as he usually can? Why did Wayne Rooney have such a frustrating evening playing in so many different positions? Why was Ryan Giggs unable to produce on the biggest stage of all?

And then you had Cristiano Ronaldo trying to prove single-handedly that he was the best player in the world - and forgetting about his own team-mates at times. Everything just seemed to fall apart after the 10th minute.

Having said that, the statistics do support Manchester United. The possession was almost 50-50, United had more shots on goal and many of the figures suggest that the two teams were very close.

However, Barcelona were superior at both ends of the pitch. Yes, Xavi and Andres Iniesta were stunning in the middle but more importantly Barcelona were defensively better than United (and I didn't think I'd be saying that the day after the match) and at the top end of the pitch they had more creativity when it really mattered. That was the difference between the two sides.

I don't think you can say Barcelona are the best team. All you can say is that on Wednesday night, Barcelona were the better team.

Take stock

I think Sir Alex Ferguson will walk away from Rome with food for thought. It was one of those nights that will force him to take stock and wonder where he needs to go next.

When it comes to the Premier League he does not need to strengthen his team too much because they've won three titles back-to-back. The squad he has should be good enough to go very close to winning it again next year.

However, having watched the game in Rome, he may decide that those players are not good enough to win the Champions League - and I think he might be right.

Apart from Ronaldo and Carrick I have always thought the United midfield was a little short at the very highest level.

The use of Rooney has not been in the player's best interests at times, while Dimitar Berbatov's lack of commitment and performance hasn't helped things. Along with Carlos Tevez, those three forwards are probably worth £75million on the open market - and it's astonishing to think two of them were sitting on the bench in Rome.

The current squad will need to improve their own performances or else Sir Alex will need to bring in better players. I certainly think they need a left-sided player - although he might give Nani that berth now he has settled into the Premier League.

I also think he needs another player alongside Carrick in midfield and maybe he needs a right-back unless he has confidence in Rafael da Silva. I feel he will want to bring in two or maybe three players to slot into those positions.

Wish

When the bookies lay their odds in August I still believe Manchester United will be favourites for the Premier League, but perhaps Barcelona will be just ahead of them when it comes to the Champions League.

I just wish we'd seen both teams at their absolute best in the Champions League final and if that had happened then I believe Manchester United might have shaded it.

Barcelona have good players all over the pitch, but in all honesty I can only think of three that were exceptional. That would include Gerard Pique, ironically, who made two or three exceptional blocks. I would also mention Xavi and Iniesta, who was man of the match by a distance.

I felt Thierry Henry was ordinary, I thought Samuel Eto'o was ordinary despite his goal, and I even thought Lionel Messi was just okay. Barca did not have a huge number of exceptional performers.

So we should not get carried away and say there was a huge differential between Manchester United and Barcelona. It's just that unfortunately, on the night, Manchester United as a team did not show up.

And that fact will give Sir Alex plenty to think about in the summer months.

Cristiano Ronaldo found his scoring touch in the Champions League again just when Manchester United needed it most.

Voted Europe’s player of the year for his magnificent exploits last season, Ronaldo had drawn a surprising duck in his six outings in the competition this term.

But with United hanging nervously on to Nemanja Vidic’s early goal, Ronaldo struck with a header from Wayne Rooney’s cross four minutes into the second half to sentence Inter Milan to a third successive exit in the last-16 round.

Vidic lost former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira to power home Ryan Giggs’ fourth-minute corner with a trademark header to give United a flying start but Inter caused them plenty of anxious moments.

Ronaldo’s goal, however, ensured they enjoyed a more comfortable second half as they joined Liverpool and Chelsea in the last eight and stayed on course for the quintuple.

United, 21 games unbeaten in the tournament now, mirrored Liverpool’s flying start against Real Madrid 24 hours earlier, forcing two corners in the first four minutes.

The second of those, won by Ronaldo, saw Vidic get away from Vieira to power in a towering header from Giggs’ in-swinging delivery.

Jose Mourinho endured a torrent of hostility as he stood in the technical area, but Inter recovered their composure and started knocking the ball around with some fluency.

Edwin van der Sar comfortably caught Mario Balotelli’s free-kick under the bar and then a looping header from Vieira, who was clearly anxious to make up for his sloppy defensive work.

Ronaldo sent a left-foot volley badly off-target. But he showed the better side of his skills with an outrageous back-heel flick while looking the other way.

Inter looked uneasy and twice escaped penalty decisions when, first, Walter Samuel clearly handled Giggs’ low cross as he slipped. Seconds later another Giggs’ pass bounced off Dejan Stankovic’s thigh and on to his arm but referee Wolfgang Stark was unmoved.

Stark was equally dismissive when Zlatan Ibrahimovic went down on the edge of the penalty area under a challenge from John O’Shea.

Yet Inter grew in authority and confidence as the half progressed.

United survived a big scare in the 29th minute when Maicon’s free-kick from the right eluded both Vidic and Rio Ferdinand and Ibrahimovic’s header bounced off the turf and clipped the top of the bar.

And there were more anxious moments as the interval approached. Van der Sar finger-tipped Stankovic’s long-range shot round the post then was hugely relieved when the same player lifted a close-range chance over the bar.

United, though, had a clear chance when Wayne Rooney’s first-time ball sent O’Shea through but he shot straight at the advancing Julio Cesar.

Inter continued to worry United and looked far more dangerous than in the first leg. Ibrahimovic broke away down the right and sent his angled shot just wide of the far post and Samuel bust forward and forced Van der Sar to hold his drive. Despite their great start, it was United who were more relieved to hear the half-time whistle.

Vieira’s unhappy return to Old Trafford ended prematurely when he was replaced at half-time by Sulley Muntari.

But during the half-time break Sir Alex Ferguson had clearly demanded his players up the tempo again and within four minutes they had put the game beyond the Italians.

Giggs and Paul Scholes were both involved on the edge of the penalty area before Rooney floated the ball over for the unmarked Ronaldo to steer a header past the helpless Cesar.

Inter had to go for broke now and there was nearly an immediate pay-off when Mourinho increased his attacking options by sending on Adriano for Stankovic in the 58th minute.

With his first touch Adriano played the ball out to Esteban Cambiasso and with his second he volleyed the cross against the inside of a post and watched as the ball rolled across the face of the goal.

United could not ease their foot off the pedal, but they responded well and Dimitar Berbatov had a close-range shot saved by Cesar, who then parried Rooney’s long range strike.

Planting a football in a skip from the top of an office block is not something David Bentley finds terribly challenging.

He demonstrates as much on YouTube.

But put that ball on the penalty spot and Tottenham troubled winger would appear to be like the majority of Englishmen.

Hopeless.

Absolutely hopeless.

No more surprising than seeing Manchester United collect another trophy here at Wembley on Sunday was the sight of two English professionals cracking under the pressure from 12 yards out.

A Welshman, an Argentine, a Portuguese and a Brazilian had no trouble guiding the ball from the penalty spot beyond the grasp of diving Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.

But Jamie O’Hara saw his effort saved and Bentley did not even force United goalkeeper Ben Foster to move, so woeful and wide was his attempt on goal

Presumably Foster expected as much, having watched the opposition players in action on an iPod.

O’Hara, rather like last year, ended the afternoon in tears.

Last year because he missed out on a place in Tottenham’s squad.

This year because the poor lad missed his penalty.

But O’Hara will just have to accept that somethings never change, and that includes United’s mastery under Sir Alex Ferguson when it comes to collecting silverware.

In United’s favour was the fact that their four penalty-takers had all endured the same lottery in the rather more pressurised atmosphere of Moscow last May during the Champions League final, with Cristiano Ronaldo exorcising that particular ghost— he missed from his spot-kick —by scoring on this occasion.

But this also amounted to another demonstration of United’s remarkable strength in depth.

On Friday Ferguson dismissed the competition as nothing more than ‘a bonus’.

By last night a bonus actually amounted to a second trophy this season with more now expected to follow, not least because of Liverpool’s miserable display in the Barclays Premier League at Middlesbrough the previous afternoon.

Predictably, the football left much to be desired.

It was billed as a contest between two teams with much more important matters on their mind and 120 minutes of goalless, largely soulless, battle was exactly what they produced.

Memorable moments were certainly limited.

A goalkeeper did not have a proper save to make until the 71st minute, when the outstanding Foster denied an equally impressive Aaron Lennon, and it was two minutes into second-half stoppage time before United even responded.

A surging run from Ronaldo was followed by a left-foot shot that rebounded off a post.

Only one real chance then followed in extra time, Foster again excelling in blocking a vicious strike from Darren Bent with his feet before then emerging as the one English hero of the penalties.

A hero whose performance would have encouraged a watching England manager Fabio Capello as much as Ferguson.

United’s manager will be criticised for selecting the side that he did, even if he did leave the world’s best player on the pitch for the duration of the encounter.

As well as omitting Dimitar Berbatov and Edwin van der Sar from his squad, there was no Wayne Rooney, either.

And why?

Because he had a ‘virus’ that did not stop him sitting with his colleagues behind the dugout and celebrating at the end of the shootout.

With the exception of Foster, those who were instead selected largely failed to impress.

Danny Welbeck was ‘hooked’ after 55 minutes and Darron Gibson struggled to hold his own in midfield against a strangely subdued Paul Scholes.

Clearly the whole‘it’s not very important’ speech failed to inspire the chaps.

But then nor, seemingly, did the six-minute motivational video that Harry Redknapp chose to show to his players.

A collection of great Tottenham moments of the past that will not need re-editing because of this final.

Which is a pity when players like Aaron Lennon and Luka Modric actually played pretty well.

Modric never stopped running and rarely has Patrice Evra had a more uncomfortable afternoon.

Lennon ran him ragged for much of the game.

When he watches the replay, a young winger who should join Foster in earning a place in Capello’s next England squad will wince at the one great opportunity he squandered.

It was a decent ball from Benoit Assou-Ekotto and a delightful dummy from Modric.

But Lennon probably took one touch too many before unleashing a shot that was the right height for Foster and a fraction too close to him, even if it did remain a super save.Having been booked for diving— when there was actually a case for awarding him a penalty for Ledley King’s trip — Ronaldo produced United’s one real moment of promise in normal time.

The shot that struck a post. But it was Tottenham who then threatened in extra time, with Bent inviting Foster to impress again in the 115th minute.

He would make one more fine save, thanks in part to the video that had been compiled by his coach, before Anderson punished Bentley and O’Hara for their inaccuracy with that final penalty kick.

‘They will be toasting Fosters rather than Carling,’ remarked an Italian observer afterwards.

As well as a classic English flaw.

Chris Foy had a relatively routine game and applied common sense in his officiating — none more so than when dealing with John O’Shea who could have been sent off for a late lunge on Roman Pavlyuchenko when on a yellow card.

Soon afterwards Cristiano Ronaldo was upended by Ledley King in the penalty area.

Given the Portugal winger’s propensity to simulate and exaggerate contact, it has become increasingly difficult to see when a foul has actually taken place.

All referees would hate to be seen to decide the outcome of a cup final by being deceived by a dive and so Foy erred on the side of caution.

For Ronaldo it could be time to reflect on his reputation which led to Foy not awarding the legitimate penalty —very much a case of the boy who cried
